Learn about the Hebrew and English prayers in Kerem Shalom’s prayer book, Shir haLev, Song of the Heart. We’ll practice reading transliteration and pronouncing the actual Hebrew. Discover alternate translations of the prayers and songs you’ve been singing in Hebrew all along. In this class, we’ll focus on the Shabbat prayers in Shir haLev, including their English translations, multiple interpretations, and how to pronounce them in Hebrew with confidence. This class will provide a fun, safe, context in which no question is too basic. For example, why is the prayer book called a siddur? This class will help you dig deeper into the holiness of the Shabbat liturgy, which might even transport you to a new level when you celebrate Shabbat at Kerem Shalom.
