Ann Geisinger Scholarship

Purpose: The Ann Geisinger Memorial Fund, in conjunction with Kerem Shalom, is pleased to offer a scholarship to a Kerem Shalom high school senior with strong demonstrated commitment to the Jewish tradition of Tzedakah, or good works, through their community service and/or social justice engagement.

Who is eligible: High school seniors who are members of Kerem Shalom and plan to attend an institution of higher learning within two years of graduation are eligible to apply.

Award: One $1,000 scholarship is available for student applicants from Kerem Shalom

Please complete the application and submit, along with an essay (2-pages, double-spaced max) describing your community service and/or social justice work. In your essay, please reflect on how these experiences of Tzedakah have influenced your plans for college. A brief statement concerning your financial needs may be submitted as part of your application (optional). Notification: Applicants will be notified by May 1, 2020

Award Presentation: The scholarship award will be presented to the recipient during the Shabbat Service on Friday, May 8. We ask applicants to plan to attend the service to accept their scholarship award, if they are chosen.

Please note: The Ann Geisinger Memorial Fund offers two scholarship opportunities: one to a high school student at Kerem Shalom and the second to a high school student from Concord-Carlisle High School, regardless of race, religion, residency, or affiliation with Kerem Shalom.

Rabbi Luckens Scholarship


To honor of Rabbi Michael Luckens, Kerem Shalom’s founding rabbi, the
scholarship is used to help support a young person in any one of these learning
● attend a Jewish camp,
● attend a Jewish leadership program,
● engage in a college program of Jewish Studies, or
● pursue a teaching degree.

Who is eligible?

Kerem Shalom members from 8th grade through college

$100.00 - $200.00 depending on the number of scholarships awarded

Application process:

Submit the following by email no later than April 24 th to Jill Mirman, Kerem
Shalom member – :
● Your full name, address, email, phone number, and current grade
● The program you plan to attend and contact information (name, address, phone,
website/email address, and contact person)
● Duration of the program you plan to attend – start and end dates
● A 1½ page, double-spaced, 12 pt font, essay answering either of these questions:
     o How do you see the program you plan to pursue strengthening your Jewish
     o How will this program reflect your personal Jewish values?

You will be notified by Monday, April 27, 2020, and the scholarship(s) will be awarded at Shabbat
Services on Friday, May 8, 2020, at Kerem Shalom. We ask the applicants to plan to attend the service
to accept their scholarship award, if they are chosen, and to support the other scholarship
