Yom Kippur childcare & breakout session deadline: Monday, September 14
Children are welcome throughout the holidays. There will be early childhood services in the morning on Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. Children of all ages are also welcome at all services; parents are especially encouraged to bring children for Rabbi Darby’s blessing of the children at the end of community services on the first day of Rosh Hashanah (at approximately 12:00 pm), for Tashlich on the second day of Rosh Hashanah, and for the joyous final services that conclude Yom Kippur.
In addition:
- Childcare for younger children will be available during all community services: the evening services on Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur; the morning services on the first day of Rosh Hashanah; at the morning and Yizkor services on Yom Kippur; and from 5-7 pm on the afternoon of Yom Kippur. Childcare is available for potty-trained children from about age 3 up to those in 2nd grade.
- Breakout sessions will be offered for older children (3rd grade to 7th grade) during the Torah service on Rosh Hashanah and during both the Torah and Yizkor services on Yom Kippur.
- Advanced registration (via the main registration form) is required for childcare and breakout sessions and there will be no walk-in registration for childcare. This policy will help ensure we have the staff needed to provide high-quality, enjoyable, and safe care for your children. To make sure we have enough staff, you must register by Friday, September 4 for Rosh Hashanah and Monday, September 14 for Yom Kippur. After you register, we will send information on sign-in and sign-out procedures for childcare.
- On Yom Kippur afternoon, we will also provide a quiet area where older children (those in 3rd grade and older) can read, draw, play quietly, and talk (but not use their phones or other electronic devices).
