Whether you consider yourself an “elder” or not, we all fall somewhere on the aging continuum, and the issues of aging in our society affect all of us.
What does Judaism have to teach us about the responsibilities that “elders” have and of their obligations to the Jewish community? What are the responsibilities that a community bears, and what obligations does the Jewish community have towards its elders?
In addition to reviewing some texts that address the questions above, this session will also give us the opportunity to consider our own personal relationship towards those who are older than ourselves, or our own personal status if we are the “elders” of our community.
We look forward to studying these texts and to thinking carefully about these questions that affect us all.
