Join award-winning author and KS member Marcella Pixley in a reading and conversation about her new novel in verse, Neshama (Candlewick Press), which tells the story of eleven-year-old Anna Fleischman, who can speak to the spirits of her ancestors.
In this special Salon Series event, Marcella will read from her novel, discuss her writing process, and lead a discussion about why we need books for children that explore Jewish identity and intergenerational memory.
This event will include prompts for any aspiring writers who are interested in finding inspiration in their own family stories: What would your ancestors say to you if they could? What poems would they write? What bravery would they bring? How would this communication change your life?
It will also include a thoughtful discussion with Marcella and Rabbi Darby at the end of the event, where we will make connections to Judaism and to our own memories and experiences. Please join us for this special and meaningful discussion!
