NEW DATE: Sunday, December 6, 2020
4-5 pm

KS member Sally Edwards will provide an introduction to toxic chemicals in common consumer products with a focus on disproportionate exposures to women and communities of color. She will share ideas for how we can engage with companies and legislators to effect change that helps everyone have access to safe and healthy products, not just the wealthy and privileged.

Sally Edwards is a Senior Research Associate at the Lowell Center for Sustainable Production at the University of Massachusetts Lowell. She has many years of experience in engaging a wide range of stakeholders to promote the environmental health of communities and develop safer and greener products. She works actively with the Green Chemistry & Commerce Council to advance the use of green chemistry in product design and development and is a co-founder of the Chemical Footprint Project, which is designed to recognize corporate leadership in the use of safer chemicals. Her book on sustainable toy making is entitled Beyond Child’s Play: Sustainable Product Design in the Global Doll‐Making Industry.
