KS Welcomes Mindy Harris, Interim Education Director

We are thrilled to let you know that Mindy Harris, an experienced Jewish educator, will serve as Kerem Shalom’s interim Director of Education for the coming school year. During the coming year, we also will conduct a search for a longer-term Director of Education.

Mindy brings a wealth of experience to our community. From 2022 to 2024 she served as the Interim Director of Education at Temple Emanu-El in Haverhill. She also served as Emanu-El’s cantorial soloist for many years and is the cantorial soloist for High Holy Day services at Congregation Beth Israel in Andover. Previously, she was the Cantor/Ritual Director at Temple Aliyah (now HaMakom) in Los Angeles. In that role, she not only officiated at services but also oversaw tutors and administrative staff, taught Torah trope to both seventh-grade students and adults, and developed a successful high school peer tutoring program.

In 2007, she stepped away from full-time pulpit work to transition into communications. Since 2011, she has been Managing Director of a boutique PR consulting agency that specializes in the international hospitality industry. That work has taken her all over the world—most predominantly to Africa—on an annual basis. She also does volunteer work with Jewish communities around the world, most recently with the Jewish community of Uganda.

Mindy received a Master of Education degree from Harvard University’s Graduate School of Education, and an undergraduate degree in Music from Northwestern University. When she’s not working or volunteering, you’ll most likely find her at Codman Community Garden in Lincoln or taking in a local acapella concert.
