In commemoration of Kristallnacht, we are honored to welcome Dr. Martina Emme, co-founder of One-by-One. As both a psychologist and educator, Dr. Emme brings a unique and profound perspective to this remembrance—shaped by her personal journey as the daughter of a Nazi family and her transformative work with One-by-One.
She has channeled these insights into meaningful educational engagement with students at the Anna-Freud High School in Berlin, Germany, where she initiated an annual Holocaust memorial day event (“GeDenktag”) involving over 1,600 students. Her work has facilitated personal visits between students and survivors that have led to lifelong bonds, and she has arranged ongoing interfaith dialogues among Jewish, Christian, and Muslim students. Dr. Emme believes such dialogue is one of the most effective means of combating antisemitism, helping students understand their responsibility as German citizens in light of their nation’s Nazi history.
