Testimonials from Stewards of the Vineyard Members
“Why did we become Stewards of the Vineyard? As an interfaith family, we treasure that Kerem Shalom is a spiritual home that welcomed us with an overt commitment to inclusiveness and engagement, and not just a “tolerance” of non-Jewish members. The congregation and staff at KS somehow are able to combine (and balance) familiar and traditional aspects of Judaism with a universal appeal to spirituality and worship that resonates with—and is accessible to—Jews and non-Jews alike. Having unsuccessfully “temple shopped” for a while before experiencing the special culture of the KS community, we understand exactly how unique it is—and we want to make sure it can be available for interfaith families for generations to come!”

“It is difficult to envision a scenario in which Kerem Shalom never existed—no meaningful and moving services, no wide range of activities and programs, no cherished friendships with fellow congregants and clergy. But there was nothing inevitable about Kerem Shalom coming into being. It took vision, hard work, and yes, money. And it will take that same combination to keep it going in perpetuity. It won’t happen by itself. Kerem Shalom has given us so much. It’s important to us that we give back, and that includes financially. We don’t see any reason why that financial support should end abruptly with our passing. We are leaving Kerem Shalom money in our estate plan because we want it to be there for all those who care about it and need it—far into the future.”

“Becoming a Steward of the Vineyard honors the memory of my parents, their parents, and their parent’s parents before them. My ancestors contributed to the growth and continuity of the Jewish communities in which they lived. It is meaningful for me and my next generation that as a Kerem Shalom Steward of the Vineyard, I am doing the same. L’dor vador.”
